Very early quartz watch from the 70's. It was the Swiss watch industry which invented the quartz watch. It offered a much higher grade of precision than known at the time. After a while the Japanese and Chinese watch industry started producing quartz watches at large quantities and for a much lower price. This lead to the quartz crisis. In Switzerland a lot of watch factories went out of business and bankrupt. A lot of watchmakers have been re schooled and were changing jobs to for instance carpenter or bricklayer. The early Swiss quartz watches were of very good quality and servicable. This early quartz has survived and has been serviced by us and recieved a new battery.
